Changing directions: Following my heart in my business

Big changes are happening around here!

But first, the backstory . . .

Have you ever invested so much of yourself into something really important to you, only to realize later that it wasn’t the right something?

This is the scenario I found myself in over the summer, and it’s why this is my first blog post in over three months.

In March of 2016, I launched Valerie Roper Wellness with the mission of helping brides lose weight and get in shape for their weddings.

Why? Because (a) I was getting married and (b) it seemed like such a smart business idea.

But after over a year of devoting myself to this mission, I realized something was missing.

Even though I’d put my heart and soul into it and feel really proud of the work I’ve done here and the content I’ve created for brides, I just wasn’t feeling inspired.

And if I’m not inspired, how can I inspire anyone else?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel your best on your wedding day. I mean, what bride doesn’t want that?? I sure did!

I just knew in my heart that this wasn’t the right focus for me and my work.

So I found myself at a crossroads . . . do I keep plugging away at a business that I’ve worked so hard on but doesn’t feel like my true calling, or do I walk away from all the energy, time, money, and soul I’ve invested in this and follow my heart?

After some serious soul searching, I decided to follow my heart. (Which is probably always the right answer.)

I’m going back to my holistic wellness roots, and I’ll be sharing inspiration and practical tips for keeping your whole Self healthy and well.

So that’s the backstory. Now, here are the big changes you’ll be seeing . . .

First, Valerie Roper Wellness is now Valerie Wong Wellness.

I felt like I needed to make a fresh start and also honor this new adventure of married life, so I’m using my married name now in my business and brand. My new domain name is

I’ll still be covering a lot of the same topics,  like clean eating, managing stress, natural beauty and wellness . . . but my blog, wellness coaching, and programs will no longer be focused on brides and getting in shape for your wedding.

My new focus is helping adventuresome women be the healthiest + best version of themselves — not just to look good (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), but also because you have an awesome adventure to live and you need to bring your A-game for it.

We’ll be exploring all things wellness, creating and living a healthy lifestyle that’s sustainable and fun, traveling well, eating well, staying grounded and centered in a crazy world, living a fulfilling and inspired life, and the power of positivity.

And I’m gonna do my best to bring FUN back into being healthy and well. Because depriving yourself is no way to live, and when something is fun and not a struggle, it becomes easy.

So there you have it! I’m really excited about this new direction for my business, and I’m so grateful to have you join me on this journey.

P.S. — I would really love to know what topics you’d like me to write about and what you need help with on your wellness journey. Please email me and let me know.  I personally read every single email, and your input will help me tailor my content to your needs — because this is all for YOU!
